2026 Nonprofit Business Awards Nomination

Through its annual awards program, the Capital Region Chamber recognizes exemplary nonprofit organizations and outstanding executive and volunteer leadership for their impact.

To be nominated, an organization or individual should not have received a nonprofit award within the past 10 years. Nominees must be a member in good standing of the Capital Region Chamber.  

Nominations must be received no later than 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 27. View a list of previous award recipients here. Nominations must follow guidelines in order to be considered.

The Awards Luncheon will be held on Friday, Nov. 20 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy.

NONPROFIT EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP: This award honors a nonprofit leader (CEO, Executive Director, or member of the Executive Team) whose distinguished achievements have resulted in significant advancement of the organization that he/she serves. This person has been in the nonprofit sector for at least five years and is recognized by their peers as demonstrating excellence in leadership and management, and inspires others to achieve meaningful, measurable, and sustainable results. 

NONPROFIT BOARD SERVICE: Recognizes an individual for exceptional board service to one or more nonprofit organizations by demonstrating effective nonprofit governance practices (i.e. demonstrates exceptional ability and dedication in actualizing the mission of the organization, excels in attracting new resources to the organization). Exemplifies ethical and impactful voluntary leadership. Fosters a positive Board culture that is reflective of the organization’s values.

EXCELLENCE IN LOCAL IMPACT: Recognizes a high-performing local chapter of a state or national nonprofit organization whose programs and services set a high standard of quality and deliver meaningful impact.  The organization is a leader in one or more of these areas: outstanding service, innovative programming that adapts to changing community needs and achieves desired goals, ethical management practices, an empowering work environment, change navigation and/or effective collaboration/partnership with other organizations in the community. In addition, please describe the impact the individual or organization has had over the last 18 months. 

NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION: Recognizes a nonprofit organization that has excelled in several of the following areas: outstanding service outcomes, innovative programming that adapts to changing community needs and achieves desired goals, consistently employs ethical management practices, creates an empowering work environment, successfully navigated a major change in operations, and/or effectively collaborates or partners with other organizations in the region. All organizations nominated must have been in operation for a minimum of five years. In addition, please describe the impact the organization has had over the last 18 months.

CORPORATE PARTNER: Recognizes an organization for its direct impact to one or multiple nonprofits through any or all of the following: volunteerism, financial support, in-kind donations, strategic partnerships, and board participation.

Letter of Recommendation - OPTIONAL

One letter of recommendation is suggested, but not required to support the nomination. The letter of recommendation does NOT need to be lengthy.  A paragraph will suffice.  (Longer letters will be accepted as well.)

Essay response in 200 words or less

  • Briefly outline the mission and geographic service area of the organization
  • Provide specific examples of how the person or organization is deserving of recognition based on the criteria for each award for which you are nominating them
