Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Leadership

Reporting to the Director of Student Engagement and Leadership, the Assistant Director contributes to the development and administration of a comprehensive out-of-class and co-curricular experience that is inclusive and responsive to student interests and needs. The Assistant Director is responsible for the development and implementation of purposeful, learning-centered programs and services that guide the student clubs and professional organizations while promoting the college’s Core values of student centeredness, community, and respect. The Assistant Director assists clubs and professional organizations with resource building, organization development, and leadership development. The Assistant Director participates fully as a member of the Division of Student Affairs and collaborates with team members to create and build programs and opportunities for our students to engage on-campus and thrive at ACPHS.

Required Qualifications:

Major duties and responsibilities will cover functional areas including but not limited to:
• Student Government, Clubs and Organizations
• Orientation

Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years’ experience in student affairs or higher education, and/or equivalent related experience. Experience within and/or leading a student organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Current knowledge of and experience applying best practices in student affairs
• Knowledge of student development theory
• Exhibit excellent organizational and training skills
• Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication with proven experience conducting presentations for varied audiences.
• Ability to exercise independent, sound, analytical/diagnostic judgements.
• Skills in development, implementation, and execution of programs.
• Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in teams
• Knowledge of current risk management practices in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field and direct experience in advising student clubs/organizations, program creation, working with college policy, and/or leadership development programs. Previous experience working with student organizations and/or leadership development.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. This position often requires evening and weekend hours.
