Seeking experienced FT Front Desk Manager at the APF to set the tone of professionalism, confidence, and kindness as the first point of contact for our nonprofit. Must enjoy and be skilled at excellent customer service, self-starter, compassionate, problem-solver, positive, and fun. We are looking for someone to manage all aspects of the front desk in an animal shelter; answer incoming calls and emails, greet guests, data entry and filing, train and manage department volunteers, and more. Very competitive salary $22hr and great benefits (health/dental/vision/vacation/401-K).

Core Job Responsibilities

Manage the day to day operations of the shelter including intakes from owners or contracted towns, adoptions, end of life services and retails sales.  

Ensure clients are provided with the resources needed, including promptly responding to voicemails, emails and providing complete solutions for inquiries.  Handles complaints and resolves grievances should they arise. 

Maintain excellent records and ensure shelter database is up to date and accurate.  

Manage inventory of shelter merchandise at front desk and upsell relevant items to clients at the time of appointments. 

Oversees training of new front desk support staff and volunteers.  Mentor volunteers in shelter customer service to promote role retention.    

Responsible for everything from managing the front desk calendar to keeping the lobby organized, clean and professional.   

Required Qualifications

Successful experience in an office management with keen attention to detail

Strong customer services representative experience.  Ability to provide empathy and compassion to clients.   

Ability to manage a busy front desk, while maintaining an upbeat, positive, professional demeanor.  Preference to work in a team environment.  

Experience with sales a plus
