The Domestic Violence program at Unity House of Troy uses a trauma informed approach to gain a complete understanding of the impact of events and ways to improve consumer engagement with healthier outcomes.
The Therapist we are looking for will recognize trauma symptoms and acknowledge the widespread impact that trauma may have had. The Therapist will provide individual therapeutic counseling for adult victims of domestic violence via home visits, in-office appointments, and via telehealth. As the Therapist, you will advise on safety planning, resource linkages, and coordinate with internal and external providers. You will engage in program development and case planning based on the Trauma Informed Care approach.
The therapist will be located in an apartment complex with adult victims of domestic violence. The therapist will coordinate events, activities, and programming for resident of the building along with the case coordinator in the building and work closely with complex staff regarding clients needs. The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills. Also, the candidate should be able to develop and maintain relationships with community partners, be able to work independently, and be able to complete all necessary data collection and competition.
Please make sure you have: LCSW, LMSW, or LMHC (supervision provided) and 2-4 years prior Master's level experience providing individual therapeutic counseling and facilitating groups is required. Previous Experience working with domestic violence, mental health or substance abuse clients is preferred. Must have reliable transportation and a valid/current New York State Driver License with an acceptable driving record as determined by our company's liability insurance policy.
