Junior Estimator / Project Manager
EMI Guide Rail, LLC. is a Schenectady based highway contractor specializing in the installation of bridge railing, guide railing, highway signs and sign structures. We’re seeking a full-time junior estimator/project manager to join our team! The Candidate will work with the chief estimator and project management team by:
•Assisting the Chief Estimator in preparation of bids & quotes by downloading project information, printing necessary documents, and entering project data into estimating software.
•Performing an initial review of project information/specifications, flagging areas of concern, as necessary.
•Sending out solicitations of D/W/MBE’s and maintaining Good Faith Effort record keeping for prime contracts.
•Updating EMI’s bid calendar and update calendar with results, postponements, and cancellations, as necessary.
•Assisting with the keeping of estimating and record keeping software up to date.
•Comparing Purchase Orders to estimated quantities to ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
•Assisting in the tracking of Change Orders & quantities.
•Working with Superintendents, Prime Contractors and Subcontractors in scheduling, onsite coordination, and quality control to ensure a smooth-running project.
•Compiling periodic cost reports for tracking the project budget and to use an aid in future estimates. Ensuring that Superintendents have an adequate supply of project plans and information as well as helping to maintain the plan filing cabinet.
•Performing any other duties, as required, that fit with this job description. Other Skills and Attributes:

•Great work ethic, including timely adherence to work schedule and attendance. Preferred Experience and Education:
•2-Yr college degree in Construction Management/Civil Engineering required, 4-Yr degree in same or similar fields preferred.
•Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, project proposals and/or procedure manuals.
•Experience with Microsoft Office and estimating software.

He/she needs to be professionally and technically competent, organized, and have a systematic approach to ensure accuracy and consistency. He/she should have well-developed interpersonal skills, and be friendly, outgoing, and confident with contractors, suppliers, and peers.
