Responsible for supporting the design and development of innovative payment models aimed at improving the member experience, reducing the total cost of care, and achieving better population health. This individual will work in coordination with the Sr. Leader, Network Product Development to develop new models, as well as a diverse range of cross-disciplinary colleagues to determine operational requirements and business processes to implement models.

The focus is on advanced payment model development – translating network strategy initiatives into fully-formed models for implementation. You will work across the product development lifecycle, collaborating across teams to take Network products (payment models) from conception to operational readiness-for-launch, and then support analysis of product performance to guide continuous improvement. This work involves turning strategic intentions into detailed models, analyzing the potential impacts and risks of advanced payment model design options, addressing barriers to successful product implementation, and coordinating with partner success colleagues on product rollout and adoption.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Helping to build and maintain the network product roadmap by: (a) supporting the evaluation of new products and product enhancements to achieve enterprise objectives and solve for customer needs, and (b) supporting the evaluation of the level of effort (e.g., operational lift, technical lift) and dependencies to develop and implement new products and product enhancements.
  • Designing and updating advanced payment models, including components such as (but not limited to) capitation rates, shared risk arrangements, bundled service payments, etc.
  • Supporting product development through both qualitative and quantitative research
  • Project managing cross-functional teams to support product development – operations, informatics, IT, health management, sales, marketing, and others as appropriate
  • Defining operational and business process plans to enable new models
  • Documenting product specifications (e.g., how models work, operational processes, business processes)
  • Supporting product implementation in collaboration with customer success colleagues
  • Monitoring and evaluating the performance of network products, and making recommendations for iterative development in pursuit of continuous improvement
  • Communicating internally about the network product roadmap, the value proposition of new models, the status of new products and product performance
  • Consulting with vendors/partners as required for product development and product opportunity evaluation

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, health policy, health care administration or related field; Master’s degree in related field is a plus.
  • Equivalent amount of education and related experience considered.

Minimum Experience:

  • Proven experience managing products through their lifecycle, from development to evaluation and iteration. 5+ years of professional work experience, including 2+ years of product management experience preferred.
  • Track record of increasing responsibilities with health plan, provider, or health care vendor. Will consider candidates in other fields with highly relevant functional experience.
  • Demonstrated success project managing teams to develop new products and/or new business processes
  • Experience coordinating the work of multidisciplinary teams
  • Prior analytical experience related to financial modeling and/or health care operations preferred
  • Experience with alternative payment models is preferred

Required Skills:

  • Ability to lead product development efforts involving the coordination of resources across multiple departments/teams.
  • Ability to analyze project needs, determine resources needed to meet objectives, and solve problems that involve multiple dynamics, often spanning different business areas
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, including defining meeting outcomes, developing detailed agendas, capturing meeting minutes, and defining and tracking action items.
  • Scope projects, develop and execute a project plan and budget, ensure project tasks meet requirements and are completed on time.
  • Create product development documentation such as business requirements, operational processes and specifications, policy directives.
  • Understand IT and data exchange concepts; comfortable gathering and incorporating technical requirements into product development plans and product specification documents
  • Track project risks, issues, scope, and timing changes
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; data-driven decision making
  • Naturally inquisitive and a humble learner. Must enjoy working on challenging, creative, and innovative projects.
  • Superior critical thinking and curiosity
  • Ability to communicate and present effectively across different levels of an organization
