The Provider Network Strategy and Communications Professional is responsible for completing environmental and competitor research to support strategy creation, collaborating on innovative provider solutions, promoting/communicating provider strategy initiatives, and informing the content and delivery of all provider communications in alignment with MVP’s mission to drive value to MVP members and providers and improve population health outcomes.


This individual will work in coordination with the Senior Leader of Network Management Strategy to:


  • closely monitor competitor and health insurance industry trends and conduct detailed competitive, market, trend, and financial analysis where required,
  • identify and understand new, innovative program models that are align with, and augment, existing alternative payment models (APMs) promoted by MVP, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), & Vermont Department of Health,
  • inform MVP’s strategy related to network capabilities, provider partnerships and network business development initiatives,
  • assess current state provider communications, inclusive of content, timing, & delivery mechanism(s),
  • redesign the provider communication processes to more effectively communicate and align around MVP’s member-driven mission, and
  • develop and refine strategies around key messages, audience segmentation, and communication methods to encourage cross-functional awareness and collaboration of strategic initiatives (both internally & externally), and ultimate adoption of new provider models.

The role will work closely with leadership in Network, Growth & Innovation, and Health Management as well as across the organization to support the primary goals of facilitating strategy and innovation planning around the delivery of high-value, high-quality, cost-effective care and effective communication across provider network stakeholders.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Surveilling the healthcare regulatory, environmental, and competitive landscape, communicating research/ findings to inform MVP’s payer/provider strategy. Must
  • Tracking state (NY & VT) and federal initiatives, presenting data, and making recommendations to inform/support executive decision-making related to existing and new alternative payment models (APMs) to enhance member retention & growth.
  • Representing MVP in internal and external meetings as a program subject matter expert, including multi-payer collaboratives, and providing feedback on innovation models as required.
  • Promoting strategic initiatives both internally and externally to support outreach and adoption of new provider products/models; developing and maintaining appropriate communication channels necessary to promote payer/provider initiatives.
  • Ensuring MVP has an effective process/vehicle for all provider communications.
  • Monitoring provider communications for alignment with MVP’s strategic objectives & standards.
  • Participating in and supporting business development and sales support (as required).


The individual in this role leads deliverables that are valuable to the business, including network product/program definition and business requirements. In addition to these primary responsibilities, the Provider Network Strategy and Communications Professional will perform other duties as assigned in fulfillment of MVP’s broader provider network strategy goals. Occasional travel may be required.


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree business, marketing & communications, health policy, health care administration or related field.
  • Equivalent amount of education and related experience considered.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.


Minimum Experience:

  • 3-5 years of increasing responsibilities with health plan, provider, government/public agency, or health care vendor experience. Candidates with strong healthcare product development/strategy background coupled with healthcare marketing & communications, policy, or network management experience preferred.
  • Experience working with multidiscipline, high-performance work teams.
  • Prior analytical and reporting experience related to utilization, financial, efficiency and quality data in health care environment preferred.
  • Experience with provider outreach, adoption, and business development support preferred.
  • Candidates with experience with alternative payment models, CMS innovation programs, and/or state (NY or VT) innovation programs preferred.

  • Knowledge of existing, new, and emerging methodologies in health care network management/payments and the ability to apply them to new business designs and models.

  • Understands an organization’s functional areas, business drivers, risks, and resource requirements.
  • Ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives and solve problems that often span multiple environments in a business area.
  • Familiarity with LEAN and Agile Scrum methodologies; ability to utilize for process improvement.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills including written, verbal, and interpersonal.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence. #LI-AD1
