Science Assistance Center (SAC) Tutor

The tutor assists and guides students in their coursework, providing academic support and integrating study & learning strategies to promote independent learning. The tutor reports to the Coordinator of Tutor Services.

Essential functions including but not limited to
· Meets and works with students individually or in small groups (frequency may vary) in an in-person or online setting depending on the course.

· Provides content-based learning activities to enrich and support course content.

·Meets with instructors to discuss tutoring and student progress as needed.


Qualifications / Required Skills

· Master’s Degree in related field, Doctorate preferred.

· Experience teaching or tutoring in a college setting preferred.

· Strong communication skills

· Patience

· High level of reliability, commitment & responsibility

· Ability to relate well to students and staff.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods; use hands to type; and talk or hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, and stoop at times. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision on a computer much of the workday.
