Senior Software Engineer

Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Digital Systems to plan and execute changes to CAP COM’s internal and external digital applications, including providing advanced technical expertise, analysis and development for CAP COM’s Web and mobile presence.

Essential Job Functions

  • Strategy & Planning
    • Assist in research, preparation and delivery of the long-term strategic plan for Web development and presence, including the development of standards and guidelines for technical design, based on business goals and input from stakeholders.
    • Identify, recommend, and prioritize new Web features and applications in conjunction with business leaders, Marketing and department managers.
    • Proactively keep up to date on industry trends and emerging technologies; drive adoption of new technologies and best practices.
  • Acquisition & Deployment
    • Implement approved hardware, software, platforms, publishing tools, and programming languages for the development of system updates.
  • Software Development & Support
    • Mentor other developers, including peer reviewing code and paired programming; mentor junior team members and interns.
    • Recommend and implement enhancements and modifications to the platform.
    • Develop software applications and APIs using suitable technologies.
    • Contribute to creative and concept development for online strategies.
    • Partner with Training Department to train on current and new system enhancements.
    • Remain current on regulatory requirements for technology systems.
    • Ensure technical designs are consistent and aligned with the broader enterprise vision.
    • Track and manage incurred technical debt.
    • Work with Risk Department to define security standards and ensure new and existing applications meet security standards.
    • Ensure vulnerability exposures resulting from security scans are addressed in a timely manner.
    • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to provide research and development, and proofs of concept for new technology.
    • Provide timely resolution to support tickets in accordance with team service level targets.
  • Quality Management
    • Develop comprehensive testing plan that includes:
      • Acceptance criteria
      • Code coverage minimums are met
      • Automated testing services are in place

    • Define, Develop, and maintain unit tests
    • Ensure adherence to development standards, best practices, policies and procedures.
    • Participate in development and implementation of IT standards and procedures to aid in the development of high-quality software. Ensure that all team members understand and follow existing IT standards.
    • Partner with QA team to ensure early and adequate testing prior to live deployments.
    • Ensure documentation of any known issues and bugs, track them to resolution, keeping management aware.
    • Ensure that technical documentation, coding standards documentation, SDLC documentation is created and maintained to a high standard.
    • Update and Maintain runbooks with current documents.
    • Ensure that the documentation is reviewed and recertified by all parties on a schedule (annually, bi-annually, etc.).
  • Processes
    • Actively contribute to and enforce best practices and group standards.
    • Keep up to date on current technology and secure programming practices.
    • Work with Enterprise Architecture to maintain standards documentation.
    • Perform peer and lead code reviews.
    • Ensure code review process meets security standards.
    • Establish and maintain technical vendor relationships.
    • Work with Architecture and Management to create and implement cloud strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of Development/Programming experience including:
    • Advanced programming experience with in:
      • .NET
      • JavaScript
      • JQuery
      • HTML
      • CSS3
      • Powershell
      • Build Server Scripts
      • Secure Programming Knowledge
    • Strong understanding of programming patterns such as:
      • MVC
      • Domain Driven Development
      • RESTful APIs
      • Service-Oriented Architecture
    • Working knowledge of web development and associated tools including:
      • Visual Studio
      • Source Control
      • CI/CD Process Automation
      • Cloud Processes
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Web site design, deployment and administration using various content management systems (CMS).
    • Hands-on experience with database integration and administration using SQL Server and T-SQL.
    • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to work well in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated technical coaching / mentoring experience.
  • Experience with Agile development practices.
  • Strong understanding of communications and customer service principles.
  • Knowledge of browser compatibility issues.
  • Experience in gathering, analyzing, and meeting business requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Must be able to operate in a rapidly changing dynamic environment.
  • Effective oral, written and auditory communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and troubleshooting skills.
