
Software Engineer

Position Summary:
NYeC is seeking a Software Engineer who has an in-depth understanding of web application development, object oriented programming, web services, XML, and WSDL. An appreciation for clinical information technology; its capabilities, limitations, and impact on clinical practice would be a preferred but not mandatory. In addition, knowledge of the IHE framework and associated protocols is desirable.
This position reports to the Director, IT Operations. This role will be based out of either the Albany or Manhattan, NY office. This role has a hybrid work schedule with 1 day per week required to be operated out of the Albany or Manhattan, NY office location and the remainder days of the week eligible to work remotely. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Defines technical solution requirements for the implementation of cross-platform, integrated services in a complex statewide environment.
• Develops technical diagrams, systems maps, code, and documentation using various tools.
• Reviews trends, experiences, and approaches to develop technical and application implementation strategies.
• Collaborates with customers and knowledge publishers.
• Supports the development of solution sets that can be delivered as part of a product and as service offerings.
• Contributes expertise into the multi-generation product and services roadmap.
• Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills:
• BS Computer Engineering or Computer Science. Masters preferred.
• 3 - 5 years in a software engineering environment;
• Ability to understand and design objects and interfaces;
• Capable of interacting with multiple vendors and envisioning the “whole solution”;
• Experienced with Service Oriented Architecture;
• 3-5 Experience in development with Java for server-side applications and deploying and troubleshooting the application on WebSphere;
-OR-
• 3-5 Experience in development with Node Js, react for server-side applications and deploying and troubleshooting the application;
• Overall understanding of web development principles and experience with AngularJS, Play Framework, HTML/CSS (SSAS based);
• Good understanding of developing for responsive design;
• Good understanding of Java Web Servicing and Java based web client calls;
• Able to embrace full-stack development including general User Interface concepts;
• Knowledgeable in RDBMS (MS SQL, MySQL) and ODBC/JDBC;
• Experience in XSD, XSLT programming;
• Able to work in various Operating System environments (Windows, Linux, etc.);
• Experience and knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards including HL7, CDA and general clinical domain expertise is preferred.
We consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may cause compensation to vary depending on your skills, experience, qualifications, and home office location (Manhattan, NY vs. Albany, NY). The annual base salary range for this role is $65,000 - $80,000. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, NYeC will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with NYeC.
