Our platform enables homeowners and businesses to support new clean energy projects for free, lower emissions and save money through their existing utility account. Because no on-site installation is required, supporting new clean energy projects can now be done digitally in a matter of minutes. Common Energy currently manages over 50 community solar projects around the country, bringing more clean energy to the electrical grid. As such, we are a key part of the solution to mitigate global climate change.
Common Energy’s board and advisors include executives from Facebook, Google and President Obama’s cabinet. We are seeking a Vice President of Project Accounting to help us scale our business.
Common Energy is seeking a hands-on Vice President of Project Accounting to lead the financial reporting for our renewable energy projects. In this role you will be the point person for key corporate relationships and oversee millions of dollars of monthly energy payments. As such, you will play a vital leadership role in client service, accounting and growing our business. A CPA and at least 10 years of client-facing finance/accounting experience is required for this position.
-Manage senior client relationships with our renewable energy developer partners
-Oversee the monthly financial performance and financial flows related to community solar projects across the country
-Have line item responsibility for delivering project revenues and confirming project account balances
-Lead and inspire a team of account managers and business analysts supporting project accounting
-Lead collections and reporting for our clients’ projects
-Maintain a detailed schedule of project reporting requirements
-Interface with local utilities on behalf of the company and our developer partners
-Ensure millions of dollars of our clients’ project revenues are penny-accurate, all of the time
-Partner with other members of our team—finance, sales, operations, software, etc.—to define, improve and automate key financial processes to ensure speed and accuracy
-Be a role model for junior members of our team, leading by example and coaching them and increasing their skills, capabilities and confidence
-Contribute to a positive, fun work environment!
Who We’re Looking For
-You are passionate about clean energy and making a positive impact in the world
-You have an active CPA license—this is a requirement
-You have at least 10+ years experience in finance and accounting roles in the energy sector, including at least 5 years experience in a management capacity—this is a requirement
-You strive to provide world class client service and are excited about helping our partners succeed
-You are low-ego, high-energy and able to both seamlessly interface with C-level clients and lead by example, working in the trenches with the other members of the financial and operations teams
-You have strong mathematical, problem solving skills and are an advanced Excel user, i.e., you can do the work yourself if a team member is absent;
-Self-starter, detail-oriented, able to work independently
-Start-up experience preferred
-Team player with a "no task is too small" attitude
-MBA, Master’s Degree, or Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or similar relevant field is preferred
