
Assistant Chief Engineer
WRGB/WCWN has an excellent career opportunity for a full-time Assistant Chief Engineer.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise maintenance and repair of cameras, video production switchers, audio equipment, video routers, automation/editing systems, video server systems, graphic systems, monitors and display systems, receivers, transmitters.
- Provide additional support and resource subject matter expertise in the absence of the Chief Engineer to all staff including leadership and location personnel
- PC hardware/software support of on-site installation, service, troubleshooting, and repairing of workstations
- Replace or adjust defective and/or improperly functioning equipment
- Manage news and engineering vehicle fleet
- Manage building maintenance and scheduling of maintenance
- Cyber Security administration support for servers and network services
- LAN and WAN related hardware and software maintenance
- Knowledge of facility specific IT needs and assist in supporting these systems
- Provide support for the technical needs of the News Department
- Provide first response support as needed to maintain live news broadcasts
- Responds to trouble calls with broadcast or computer equipment
- Assist with video equipment set-up and maintenance
- Provide transmitter maintenance and support
- Perform physical inventory of equipment
- Other duties as may be assigned
Other Qualifications and Requirements:
- Technical degree in electronics or a related field, or an equivalent of work and educational experience
- 5 years of related broadcast experience
- A great team-oriented attitude and dedication to quality
- Dedication to quality and upholding FCC regulations
- Hold a valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Proficiency in troubleshooting problems and responding quickly under pressure
- Ability to work on ladders, and lift equipment up to 50 pounds
- Be able to work effectively with other departments receiving and communicating instructions via email, phone, or in person
- Be able to read and understand technical materials
- Experience working with computers, servers, and network switches
- Familiarity with Ross and Avid related software and hardware products a plus
- SBE certification is preferred
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule
- On-call duty, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift computers and equipment generally less than 50 pounds
The base salary compensation range for this role is $60,000 to $80,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates’ relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
