Summary
Automotive Technician & Shop Foreman is a dual-role position responsible for performing hands-on mechanical/restoration diagnostics and repairs on a variety of vehicles, while also overseeing the daily operations of the mechanical/restoration shop. This role ensures that all mechanical/restoration work is completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, and that the shop operates in alignment with company values and customer expectations.
Core Responsibilities
Mechanical/Restoration Repair & Diagnostics:
Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on classic, performance, and modern vehicles.
Conduct test drives and inspections to verify repairs and identify issues.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
Shop Management:
Schedule and prioritize work orders to ensure timely completion.
Supervise and support other mechanics and shop staff.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Coordinate with the parts department and vendors for timely procurement of parts.
Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
Customer & Team Communication:
Communicate clearly with service advisors, sales staff, and management regarding vehicle status and repair needs.
Provide technical insight and support to customers when needed.
KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
Vehicle Turnaround Time – Average time from vehicle intake to completion.
Repair Quality – Measured by comeback rate (percentage of vehicles returning for the same issue).
Shop Productivity/Utilization Rate – Percentage of billable hours vs. available technician hours.
Parts Accuracy and Availability – Rate of correct parts ordered and available on time.
Customer Satisfaction Feedback – Based on post-service surveys or direct feedback.
Team Performance and Morale – Evaluated through attendance, collaboration, and internal feedback.
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum 10 years of hands-on automotive repair experience, preferably with classic and performance vehicles.
Prior experience in a supervisory or shop management role.
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the General Manager or Owner. The Automotive Technician & Shop Foreman will also collaborate closely with the Sales, Title Clerk, and Customer Service teams.

Salary: $75,000 - $125,000 per year, commensurate with experience
