
Box Office Representative
Summary: The Box Office Representative is responsible for managing ticket sales and customer service for the Albany Symphony. The ideal candidate will be a clear verbal and written communicator, organized, detail-oriented, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. The position includes scheduled hours, including occasional evening and weekend hours for Albany Symphony performances and events. This is a part-time position reporting to the Senior Patron Services Manager (transitioning to the Marketing Manager). The Albany Symphony welcomes candidates who represent diverse communities and perspectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Have a working knowledge of Albany Symphony concert and events, policies, services, and venue amenities
Provide quality customer service to all patrons
Manage day-to-day operations of ticketing and subscription sales. Assist in the management of donation processing as needed.
Sell tickets to customers in person, over the phone, by email, and by mail
Accurately process payments (cash, credit card, gift certificates, etc.)
Fulfill subscription orders sent directly to Albany Symphony, and through telemarketing vendors
Ensure accurate information on patrons is processed at the point of purchase, asking relevant data protection questions
Answer customer inquiries in a prompt and efficient manner

Manage the annual subscription fulfillment process
Ensure the fulfillment of house seats, comps, and trade requests.
Work with Albany Symphony and venue staff to manage the setup and sales of all tickets and subscriptions at all concerts and events, will-call ticket pick up, and resolution of any seating or ticketing issues.
Box Office Hours
Tuesdays, 10am-4pm
Thursdays, 10am-4pm
Concert Weeks, Tuesday-Friday, 10am-4pm
Concert Day, 2 hours prior to concert start time through intermission
Skills and Qualifications
Excellent customer service, communications skills and phone etiquette
Strong attention to detail
Ability to learn and use a variety of technical systems, including the Albany Symphony’s Customer Relationship Management system (CRM) Spektrix and email platform Outlook.
Ability to handle financial transactions and make change
Ability to work efficiently with little supervision
Ability to remain pleasant during challenging situations
2+ years experience working in customer relations or box office for a performing arts organization
Compensation and Benefits
Competitive hourly compensation at a rate of $18 per hour. Hours will be determined each week over a Monday to Sunday week and mutually agreed by you and your supervisor. Hybrid schedule is possible depending on location and experience.
