Job Overview

The Executive Producer is a newsroom leader responsible for the daily execution, strategic alignment, and multi‑platform impact of the station’s news content. This role blends strong editorial leadership, show execution, and content strategy, ensuring that all coverage (on‑air, digital, OTT, and social) meets the station’s journalistic standards, brand expectations, and audience goals.

Under leadership of the News Director, this position provides day‑to‑day oversight of content decisions, story development, and newsroom operations, while coaching producers and content teams to deliver compelling, coordinated journalism across all platforms.

Job Responsibilities


Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
Editorial Leadership & Newsroom Execution


-Lead the day‑to‑day editorial operation of the newsroom, setting priorities and guiding story selection, coverage depth, and -execution across all platforms. 
-Leads and supports newsroom employees through effective supervision, mentoring, and performance management in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
-Guide editorial content during breaking news, major events, and developing stories.

-Ensure accuracy, balance, ethics, urgency, and clarity in all content.

-Provide final editorial oversight for assigned newscasts and key enterprise reporting.

-Act as a newsroom leader capable of stepping in for senior leadership when needed.
 
Executive Producing & Show Oversight


-Oversee newscast structure, content flow, and storytelling approach in collaboration with producers.

-Guide rundowns, segment pacing, story placement, and use of live elements to maximize impact.

-Coach and lead producers on strong writing, creative execution, and effective storytelling.

-Ensure all broadcasts are fully prepared, accurate, and editorially sound prior to air.


Content Strategy & Multi‑Platform Coverage


-Drive cohesive content strategy across broadcast, digital, social, OTT, and emerging platforms.

-Ensure maximum exposure and effective distribution of content across all channels.

-Partner with digital team to optimize stories for platform‑appropriate presentation and audience engagement.

-Monitor content performance metrics and use insights to refine coverage strategy and execution.


Team Leadership & Development

-Lead, mentor, and coach producers, and content teams in a fast‑paced, 24/7 newsroom environment. 

-Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.

-Provide regular feedback, guidance, and professional development coaching.

-Support training initiatives and help develop future newsroom leaders.


Collaboration & Communication


-Work in close alignment with the News Director to ensure editorial cohesion and strategic alignment.

-Collaborate across departments including Creative Services and Sales when appropriate to support content initiatives.

-Maintain clear, consistent communication within the newsroom during daily operations and major coverage events.


Qualifications


-Extensive producing experience.

-Strong editorial judgment with a deep understanding of breaking news, enterprise reporting, and live production.

-Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage deadlines, and make sound decisions under pressure.

-Proven experience producing high‑quality newscasts and managing complex coverage.

-Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills for broadcast and digital platforms.

-Knowledge of audience metrics and content performance data.

-Strong communication, coaching, and leadership skills.

-Flexibility to work varying schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as news coverage demands.

Additional Information

This position is subject to pre-employment driving record background check. A conviction, violation pending adjudication, or adverse driving record more than 3 years old or does not meet the major violation definition per company policy will not, on its own, disqualify an applicant. The company will use background check information in a confidential, non-discriminatory manner consistent with applicable federal, state and local law.

Compensation and Benefits

When extending an offer, the company considers a variety of factors such as (but not limited to) the candidate's work experience, education/training & key skills as well as internal peer equity and other market and business considerations.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 annually.
