GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Financial Analyst at Whitney Young Health supports operations through financial reporting, data analysis, preparation of cost reports, financial planning and pro forma development. The financial analyst extracts and validates data from various information sources and provides relevant information and recommendations to assist management in business decisions and meet regulatory reporting requirements. 

Please note, this is a full-time, in-person role.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data reported in financial and practice management systems for forecasting, trending, variance and results analysis.
  • Prepare assigned schedules for the WYH Budget, 330 budget, Uniform Data Set, OASAS, Monthly Finance Report and other reports.
  • Prepare financial and productivity reports required for grant applications and reports. 
  • Prepare reports identifying processing and workflow issues impacting the revenue cycle and bring them to the attention of the department responsible for resolution. 
  • Prepare monthly revenue and statistical journal entrees and reports including ability to run WYH reports using BridgeIT and Athena reports system.
  • Identify and prepare analytical reports on variances in financial and productivity expectations and results.
  • Maintain liaison relationship with departmental managers and staff in the preparation and analysis of financial and productivity reports to provide information and to resolve problems concerning variances from approved budgets.
  • Prepare financial analyses of operations and present findings in summary reports for executives, management, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and document new procedures to improve timeliness and accuracy of data and information flow to all areas of the organization. 
  • Perform tracking, reconciliation and auditing of the 340B program.
  • Provide back up support to other roles within the Finance Department.
  • Prepare monthly 340b Program presentation referencing drug revenue vs. costs by pharmacy
  • Maintain fixed asset ledger and prepare monthly depreciation entry
  • Review and update quarterly criteria for expense allocations (ex. New locations, changes in square footage and company FTEs)
  • Assist in the completion of accounting forms and documentation as requested by third parties, auditors, etc.
  • Assist in budget preparation, including updating and reviewing provider visit, revenue and expense projections
  • Assists with the implementation of any and all process improvement initiatives.
  • Learns and keeps up to date on all programs and services offered at WYH.
  • Demonstrates excellence in both internal and external customer service.
  • Understands and is able to effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance and client confidentiality.
  • Ensures and/or remains in compliance with local, state, and federal regulation, i.e. DHHS HRSA and NYSDOH, and all accreditation standards (e.g. Joint Commission and NCQA-PCMH).
  • Adheres to the National Patient Safety Goals as defined by the Joint Commission and Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar analytical fields and two years of relevant work experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills and relationship-building skills. Must also be inquisitive, solve problems creatively as well as have strong business and data base analytical skills. Candidate must be comfortable interacting with all levels of staff work collaboratively as part of a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail should be complemented by a flexible approach to shifting priorities on multiple assignments. Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, strong emphasis on Excel and Access.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of health care reporting experience using an EMR.

Salary range: $25.00 - $26.50 hourly
