About SBANYS

The Spina Bifida Association of New York State is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by spina bifida through education, advocacy, and support services. We are seeking a passionate and organized Regional Coordinator to help build connections and advance our mission in the downstate New York region.

Position Summary:

The Regional Coordinator will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders including consumers, partner agencies, funders, government officials, and healthcare providers across Ulster to Suffolk counties. This position will coordinate regional programs and events, assist individuals and families in accessing resources, and promote awareness of spina bifida and SBANYS services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals and families in locating resources and connecting to support services.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with hospitals, nonprofits, corporations, government entities, and other stakeholders.
  • Plan and conduct community outreach initiatives to increase awareness of spina bifida and SBANYS programs.
  • Deliver in-person and virtual training workshops, effectively sharing the perspectives and experiences of the spina bifida community.
  • Identify regional funding opportunities to support programs and services.
  • Increase volunteer engagement and support programmatic growth.
  • Plan and implement regional in-person events and programs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of services provided, including reports and timesheets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Social Work, Public Health, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Health Education, Community Engagement, or related field.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW), Public Administration (MPA), Public Health (MPH), Nonprofit Leadership, or related discipline is a plus.

Experience:

  • Experience working with people with disabilities is highly preferred.
  • Fundraising and development experience desirable.
  • Background in counseling or human services is a plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate with diverse groups and stakeholders.
  • Strong advocacy skills and ability to interface with government agencies and community partners.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical handling of personal information.
  • Passion for mission-driven work and community impact.
