Welder! (Steel - Flux Core)

STS Steel, Inc. is currently seeking to fill the position of Welder.  The ideal candidate is motivated, detail oriented, organized, and needs little direct supervision.  The individual must understand the potential dangers of working in a complex / busy shop environment handling large pieces of steel and therefore must follow all safety guidelines. All jobs at STS Steel include the requirement to perform any task needed to satisfy our customers. We need a flexible, skilled workforce to meet the schedule and quality requirements of our customers. This is not per Diem work. Good, solid welding skills are a must!

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing high quality welding using SMAW, FCAW, and SAW processes in accordance with specified weld symbols and procedures shown on documents.
  • Use distortion control techniques to keep assemblies in tolerance after welding.
  • Perform oxy-fuel torch cutting of parts for assembly.
  • Assist layout and fitters with assembling structural assemblies.

  • Quality, safety minded, reliable, precise, self-motivated.
  • Honest, trustworthy, accurate, and dedicated to their career.
  • Successful background check.

Heavy Physical Requirements:

  • Use all limbs and make a variety of movements (push/pull/bend/twist) to move items that weigh up to 50 pounds (unassisted), and to carry              heavy and bulky merchandise. The employee may be required to use all limbs to complete installations, walk, use tools, and to operate                  controls.
  • Drive a powered industrial truck that emits gas fumes/electrical voltage, requiring high levels of sensory attention & focus.
  • Drive a commercial motor vehicle on company property or public roads.
  • Exposure to an indoor warehouse environment with dust and/or noise. Floor surfaces may be uneven due to cracks from forklifts, and/or                 slippery when wet. Occasional exposure to outdoor weather and loading docks.
  • Possess accurate depth perception, visual focus, field of vision, color vision, and clarity of vision (far and near).
  • Exposure to high noise levels, water, dust, odors, & hazardous equipment.

Job Type: Full-time: 10-hour shift (6:00 am – 3:30 pm, M-Th + 6:00 am – 2:30 pm F)

Experience:  Structural Steel/ Flux core Welding: 2 years (Required)

Pay Range:  $25-$34/hr.
